Jessi Barber’s work seeks to connect audiences with their physical selves by creating contemporary movement that stems from stories and spaces. Jessi grew up in Auburn, Maine, attended Oberlin College and moved to California to pursue sustainable agriculture and modern dance. Based in Oakland since 2010, Jessi has presented at Works in the Works in Berkeley (2010), Dance Mission in San Francisco (2011), and New Ground Dance Theater in Belmont (2013). She has been a selected artist for ODC’s Pilot Program (2013) and SAFEhouse for the Arts Resident Artist Workshop (RAW) (2014).  Jessi’s piece a moment different was the winner of Luna Dance Institute’s Choreofund 2, an audience supported grassroots funding event. In the summer of 2014 she was the resident choreographer with The Art Monastery Project in Caramanico, Italy, collaborating on a dance theater duet that toured Europe in fall 2014. She has performed with Nina Haft and Co., Mid To West Dance Collective, Hatch Collective, Emma Jaster, Mish-Mash Productions, and Neva Cockrell. Jessi formed her company Everything All At Once (EAAO) in 2014.  EAAO presented an excerpt of II. Liminal at the Summer Performance Festival 8 (SPF8) at ODC Theater in July 2015 and will premiere the full length version at Shawl Anderson Dance Center in Berkeley in spring 2016. The company is in residence at Shawl-Anderson for 2015.
